SCP Foundation

The SCP Foundation is not a centrally authored series with one canon. It is an archive labyrinth maintained and repeatedly rewritten by thousands of contributors. In 2007, a short post about a sculpture that moved only when unobserved appeared on 4chan; it became SCP-173 and the first containment door into the wider setting. Writers adopted the voice of government reports, experiments, interviews, redactions, and incident addenda, locking monsters, science fiction, bureaucratic horror, and internet folklore into the same cold white file. The Foundation's motto is “Secure, Contain, Protect,” but one story may cast it as a night watch, another as a secret empire, a failing machine, or an institution consumed by its own lies.

There is no single timeline and no author empowered to declare the final truth. SCP-001 has many mutually incompatible proposals; an anomaly may end the world in one tale and never have existed in another canon. Myth Atlas therefore records original article, author, current version, and related stories as separate layers. It does not pour fan interpretation back into the source or promote a popular nickname into an official designation. The opening volume selects twelve anomalies that established the archive's language and imaginative range; later series can extend through the same licensing and version structure without breaking the existing numbers.

The SCP Wiki releases its writing under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0. Every SCP-derived summary and original plate here names the source author, links the article, and carries the same license: reuse is permitted when attribution remains and derivatives are shared alike. The former photograph used for SCP-173—Izumi Kato's Untitled 2004—is not openly licensed. This codex neither copies it nor attempts to evade the restriction through a close imitation. Containment begins by remembering who every file belongs to.
